EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Blackbear Talks "do re mi" & New Mixtape

Find out why his biggest hit was kind of a pain

December 6, 2017

He's already famous, having collaborated with just about everyone from Mike Posner and Justin Bieber to Linkin Park and Rivers Cuomo of Weezer, but now Blackbear is for real on the verge of becoming a household name. Trust us, everyone will know that Blackbear is a legit musical beast very, very soon.

On the heels of his latest banger "do re mi," Blackbear is less than two weeks from dropping his highly anticipated mixtape Cybersex. In case you haven't heard, the new music drops on November 27, which also happens to be both Cyber Monday and the rapper's 27th birthday. It will also cap off a pretty impressive year for the young yet already prolific songwriter. He released two studio albums already this year, digital druglord in April and Mansionz with Mike Posner in March plus the Salt EP in-between the other two albums.

Despite an already star-studded career which includes having co-written The Bieb's hit "Boyfriend," it was "do re mi" featuring Gucci Mane that propelled Blackbear to the next level.

In the midst of his tour, Blackbear took a few minutes of his time this week to call into our sister station, KQKS in Denver, to talk about why "do re mi" was such a pain to make and what people can expect from Cybersex. Listen to the entire interview below.
